1920's Cocktails
A Valentine's Day Massacre
Guys and Dolls alike were sipping on vintage Gatsby inspired cocktails that were personalized to fit the theme and the mystery! But shhh.... mums the word!
I had the pleasure of being booked for a Murder Mystery Event over Valentine's Day Weekend. Let me preface by saying that I LOVE Murder Mystery Parties. A return client shares the same love as I for campy themed parties and this time we were going Gatsby with the cocktail menu with three personalized libations to fit the theme of the party!

When you book your bar with David Mixes I pull out all the stops for your bar service. You start with a personalized menu tasting where I sit down with you and mix up some cocktail options for you to choose from. You are provided a tasting menu and once you narrow it down (which is a lot hard than it seems - but I help make it easy) I create a custom Cocktail Menu to display to your guests at the bar.

I created Three 1920's Inspired Cocktails with a Modern Twist!

GIGGLE JUICE
A clean and refreshing spritz that pops in vibrant color and flavor. I love a good Aperol Spritz. Anytime of year I can sit back and enjoy a few - the aromatic and bubbly flavor pairs perfectly with citrus.
I made a small batch of Wintergreen Leaf Syrup - instead of your classic mint leaves the Wintergreen leaf has a creamy sweetness much like Wintergreen gum that pairs perfectly with the deep tart flavors of the Blood Orange Soda and Aperol.
My go-to Prosecco is "La Marca" and this bubbly libation was ready to serve and an instant classic during the murderous affairs.

HANKY PANKY
The Gangsters and Gun Molls enjoyed this pungent and smoky cocktail that packed a punch. Inspired by the original drink of the same name, created by Ada "Coley" Coleman at the American Bar in London's Savoy Hotel somewhere between 1903 and 1923. It features the earthy Italian digestivo "Fernet Branca", also known as the Bartenders Handshake. A star spirit behind any bar, I paired it with Averna Amarro a bitter and rich vermouth that is used in a variety of modern dark cocktails.
Ginger and Lime round out the pallet of this bold and layered cocktail that will be an easy sipper paying homage to the age of prohibition. While mixing this drink behind the speakeasy bar, I added torched a cinnamon stick as a garnish, giving it that cozy and mysterious appeal that kept everyone coming back for more.
